Freeganism is an anti-consumerism lifestyle whereby people employ alternative living strategies based on "limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources. Freegans embrace community, generosity, social concern, freedom, cooperation, and sharing in opposition to a society based on materialism, moral apathy, competion, conformity, and greed." The lifestyle involes salvaging discarded, unspoiled food from supermarket dumpsters, that have passed their sell by date, but are still edible and nutritious. They salvage the food not because they are poor or homeless, but as a political statement.

Here is what we want you to do:
So instead of buying something new from a store, you can make a personal and unique creation with things you would otherwise throw away. Make a lamp with a milk jug, flowers from paper with a bottle for a vase. Crack open that Ipod and use the wires for a bracelet. What can you think of? Use the submission box on this page, or e-mail us all the freegan awesome creations and little recycled invention pictures and or ideas Show us what you got.

The picture on the right is a "vase" (Jones Soda Bottle) filled with paper flowers, that we made from an old phone book and some pipe cleaners. (We got skillz!)
